1Kg Jacobs Pastries - Easy Pre-mix
Chocolate Cake

Jacobs Pastries Easy Pre-mixes are fun and super easy to prepare.   The easy part is what makes it fun, isn't it?

Now for 500g of this mix, you will need to add 4 Eggs, 150ml Hot Water, and 150ml oil.

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 200C.  If you know your oven better than we do, adjust accordingly.

  2. Prepare your baking tray by spraying with a non-stick cooking spray, then lining it with wax paper, and spraying the wax paper again.

  3. Combine the cake mix, eggs, oil and water in a large mixing bowl.  Any bowl really, large enough to have space to mix in.  At first, mix slowly until all is moist, then increase the speed.

  4. Place inside that hot oven of yours, and bake for about 20 to 30 minutes.  Test with a knife by inserting it into the middle of the cake, and when no dough sticks to the blade when it comes out, the cake is ready.  Be very careful not to burn yourself here.  The oven is very hot!

  5. Now let that cake cool down before frosting it.

Even though this Sponge cake is very soft, you can spray it with some sugar water to make it moist.

Premix content:  Standard cake flour (gluten), baking powder, salt, white sugar, cocoa powder

Vanilla Cake

Jacobs Pastries Easy Pre-mixes are fun and super easy to prepare.   The easy part is what makes it fun, isn't it?

Now for 500g of this mix, you will need to add 4 Eggs, 150ml Hot Water, and 150ml oil.

Chocolate Mousse

Make a Chocolate Mousse that will impress your mother in law, the book club, the boss or maybe for date night.

  1. Combine 80g Mousse Mix with 200ml Cold Milk

  2. Whisk at high speed for 3 minutes or until smooth.

  3. Transfer into serving dishes, and let it chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Caramel Mousse

Jacobs Pastries Easy Pre-mixes are fun and super easy to prepare

  1. Combine 100g Mousse Mix with 250ml Cold Milk
    (Add more milk for a creamier texture)

  2. Whisk with an electric whisk at high speed for 3 minutes or until smooth. (Longer to aerate more)

  3. Transfer into serving dishes, and let it chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

As we suggested with the Chocolate Mousse, layer it up with Vanilla or Chocolate Cake Easy Pre-Mix (Also available here on Takealot)

Dessert cream

Jacobs Pastries Easy Pre-mixes are fun and super easy to prepare

Instant Dessert cream, just add milk. The longer you whisk, the fluffier the cream. For best results, use an electric whisk

  1. Mix 100g Dessert Cream Powder with 200ml to 220ml Milk

  2. Add 2 teaspoons of Cocoa Powder for chocolate dessert cream

  3. Whisk at high speed for 5 minutes or until smooth.

  4. Transfer into a piping bag, or on top of your hot chocolate, cappuccino, or Vanilla Sponge Cake

Wheat Bran Rusks

Jacobs Pastries is introducing Rusks to the easy Pre-mix family

  1. Melt the butter in a microwave

  2. Combine all the wet ingredients and stir with a fork 

  3. Now combine all ingredients and mix with your hands 

  4. Next, grease a pan with butter (not spray - butter adds flavour - we always want flavour)

  5. Pour the mixture into the pan and flatten out to make sure all is level 

  6. Cut the sizes you want by just cutting with a knife and leaving in the pan

  7. Place in a pre-heated oven (180C) and leave for 40min

Now for the drying part

  1. Remove from the oven and re-cut with a knife along the lines

  2. Remove from the pan (easiest is with a small steel spatula, not silicon) and place in one or two other pans,  leaving space in between and on their sides of the rusks

  3. Put back in the oven at 100C for drying out and leave them in there until they start to turn golden. About 20 minutes

  4. Rotate all the rusks on to their other side, and leave until golden brown. About 15 minutes

Raisin Wheat Bran Rusks

Pancake Mix

Jacobs Pastries Easy Pre-mixes are fun and super easy to prepare.

Easy to make Pancakes, just add water

  1. Combine 500g Pancake Mix with 1,2l Water for about 30 Pancakes
    OR
    Combine 500g Pancake Mix with 600mll Water for about 10 Flapjacks

  2. Whisk at high speed for 3 minutes or until smooth (Electric Whisk for best results)

  3. When using oil to grease the pan, just remove the excess oil safely before adding the mix

  4. Pour a thin layer of pancake mix into a non-stick pan over medium heat

  5. Heat and texture is perfect if the mix makes air bubbles in the pan

  6. Once the edges of the pancake start to loosen from the pan flip it over for 10 seconds and remove

  8. Pour generous amounts of cinnamon sugar, Ice cream, or Jacobs Pastries Dessert cream on top

1Kg Jacobs Pastries - Easy Pre-mix
Scone Mix

Jacobs Pastries Easy Pre-mixes are fun and super easy to prepare

To make this you will need:

  • Oven

  • Muffin Tray

  • 4 Eggs

  • 250ml oil

  • 600ml Water

  1. Mix 1kg Scone mix with Eggs, oil and water until a smooth paste.
    (Leave some egg yolk to paint on top of the scones)

  2. Place into the muffin tray, with each cup of the tray only filled two thirds up

  3. Paint the top of the scones with the egg yolk, before putting in the pre-heated oven

  4. Bake for 10 -15 minutes at 200C

  5. (Test Scones by sticking a knife in, and if nothing sticks to the knife when removing, it is perfect)
